A 26-year-old man originally from Naples and living in the Reggio Emilia area was reported by the Carabinieri after refusing to submit to tests to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The incident occurred in Casalgrande, in the province of Reggio Emilia.
The accident occurred on the afternoon of September 6th, on Via Palmiro Togliatti. According to the police's reconstruction, the young man was riding a scooter when he struck a van stopped on the road for work.
The scooter driver was injured in the impact and was treated by paramedics, who transported him to the Santa Maria Nuova hospital. Carabinieri from the Albinea station responded to the scene, alerting the emergency number 112.
Officers collected witness statements and conducted the necessary investigations to reconstruct the accident's dynamics. The 26-year-old was subsequently located and, according to reports, refused to undergo the required tests and medical examinations to determine his driving safety.
It was precisely the refusal to undergo the tests that led to the young man being charged. The charge therefore concerns his unwillingness to perform the requested checks after the accident, while the dynamics of the collision with the van were reconstructed by the Carabinieri based on the evidence gathered and witness statements.
