Underdog Global Partners (UGP)
Naples – A staggering sum to shake Aurelio De Laurentiis and change Napoli's history forever. A consortium of American investors, led by Underdog Global Partners (UGP), has reportedly made a "super offer" of two billion euros to acquire the Neapolitan club.
The rumor, originally published by the authoritative newspaper The Athletic and relaunched in Spain by Marca, outlines the contours of what could become one of the most impressive financial operations in the world of global sports.
The initial response from Napoli's top brass was peremptory. Aurelio De Laurentiis and his close circle of collaborators rejected the onslaught with a resounding "no": Napoli is not currently for sale. This refusal, however, doesn't seem to have deterred the American consortium. The UGP consortium has been working quietly on this deal for months and continues to press, attempting to allay the Napoli owner's doubts and confirming its determination to expand its horizons in the Italian market.
Underdog Global Partners' ambitions extend far beyond the pitch. The group has already established a foothold in Italy by acquiring Campobasso (Serie C) and, in May of last year, acquired Napoli Basket, a top-flight team. The vision of the American fund, known for its solidity and foresight, is to create a multi-sports giant. UGP, among other things, aims to apply for a franchise ahead of the launch of NBA Europe, scheduled for 2027. From this perspective, Neapolitan football and basketball would enter a new and revolutionary corporate dimension.
Infrastructure is the cornerstone of this ambitious project. If negotiations with De Laurentiis were to dramatically break through, the consortium has already prepared a parallel offer for the privatization and extensive renovation of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
If the deal goes through, it would be a true financial masterpiece for De Laurentiis, who once bought the club after bankruptcy for less than 2% of the current monstrous offer. For now, UGP headquarters is keeping tight-lipped and refusing to comment on the rumors.
Napoli's current priority remains the pitch. There's a season to wrap up, with the final match against Udinese potentially sealing second place in the standings (with qualification for next season's Champions League already assured), and there's the impending departure of manager Antonio Conte to deal with. Only after the final whistle of the season will it be possible to begin concrete discussions about the club's future. And about those two billion euros knocking on Castel Volturno's door.

Two billion for Napoli?
The American assault on the UGP seems like a dream offer, but behind the figure
dizziness hides concrete risks.
De Laurentiis said no, but the temptation to sell to foreign investors is strong,
especially when we're talking about such huge numbers.
The question is: is it really worth risking the club's identity and history?
for a financial leap in quality?
