Wild West in San Giovanni a Teduccio: The investigating judge confirms Pasquale Russo's prison sentence.

Naples – The violent bloodbath erupted on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, on Via Vigliena, in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of Naples. At the height of an argument, Pasquale Russo—a man already known to law enforcement and previously linked to local crime—pulled out a firearm and shot three members of the same family: 59-year-old Salvatore Ambrosio and his two sons, Vincenzo (34) and Ugo (33).

According to initial reports, the incident arose from a street altercation between the two Ambrosio brothers and a minor, Russo's son, over previous disagreements. When the argument escalated, the minor's father intervened and opened fire on the two young men. The 59-year-old father (also known to investigators for drug-related crimes) rushed to their defense, but the gunman didn't hesitate to fire again, aiming for the victims' legs, before fleeing.

The manhunt and the surrender at the police station

Immediately after the incident, Russo went missing. Investigators from the Naples Flying Squad, alerted by the injuries, rushed to the suspect's home, finding it empty. While the man was reported missing, a vigorous manhunt began.

His time on the run lasted just under 48 hours: hunted and aware that he had already been identified thanks to the victims' precise statements, Russo was persuaded to surrender by effective mediation conducted by investigators. On June 18, the man voluntarily presented himself at the police headquarters, where officers carried out an arrest on his own initiative.

Three brothers in three different hospitals

Three 118 ambulances responded to the scene of the shooting and rushed the three injured to three different medical facilities in the city to relieve the pressure on emergency rooms: Vincenzo Ambrosio was taken to the Ospedale del Mare, Ugo to the Cardarelli, and his father Salvatore to the Vecchio Pellegrini. Fortunately, none of them are in life-threatening danger, and they are expected to be discharged in the coming days.

The preliminary investigations judge's order and the DDA's investigations

In the past few hours, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) and the ordinary Prosecutor's Office, the Preliminary Investigations Judge (GIP) validated the State Police arrest. Russo was ordered held in pre-trial detention at the Poggioreale "Giuseppe Salvia" prison on charges of triple attempted murder and serious assault.

Investigations are continuing to clarify the underlying circumstances of the case and the nature of the disagreements between the two families, who live within walking distance of each other. Since the measure was ordered during the preliminary investigation, the suspect retains the right to appeal and remains presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
