A fire at an electrical and plastics warehouse in Striano triggered environmental safety measures, including monitoring for dioxins and other air pollutants. Arpac technicians are busy assessing toxic substance levels between Naples and Salerno.

Fire in Striano: Dioxin monitoring begins, environmental alarm raised between Naples and Salerno.
A large-scale fire broke out this afternoon in Striano, near Naples, in a company warehouse containing electrical equipment and plastic components. The flames released highly polluting substances into the atmosphere, including dioxins, furans, and polychlorinated biphenyls. Consequently, a high-flow sampler was activated at 5:00 PM to continuously monitor air quality, coordinated by technicians from the Naples provincial department of ARPAC.
The fire site borders the Sarno area, in the province of Salerno, where a mobile laboratory is already operational, previously deployed for the emergency response following the overnight fire of June 21-22 at the Termoplast plant. This laboratory is capable of real-time measurement of hourly concentrations of various air pollutants, such as PM10 and PM2,5 particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzene, toluene, and xylene.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent public health risks. Updated pollution data will be made available on the official website of Arpac Campania, while raw data from the mobile laboratory can be viewed online at https://opas.isprambiente.it/str_dataview.
The population of Striano and the surrounding municipalities are asked to remain calm and follow any instructions from the health and environmental authorities.
