Naples – Piazza Garibaldi was the scene of a major joint operation aimed at strengthening security and improving urban decorum. The operation was organized as part of a joint effort between the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, and the City Councilor for Legal Affairs, Antonio De Iesu, with the goal of ensuring a greater state presence in one of the busiest and most strategic areas of the capital.

All police forces are in the field

Numerous patrols from the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and Local Police are participating in the operation. Checks will cover people, vehicles, and the main areas of the square, with a particular focus on crime prevention and combating urban decay.

The checks were also extended to the nearby Porta Nolana area, where officers identified numerous people and checked several vehicles in transit.

Checks also at the station and interventions for decorum

The activity also involves the Central Station. Inside the railway station, checks are being carried out by Railway Police officers, while patrols from the Police Headquarters' General Prevention Office operate in the external areas, in accordance with the instructions of Commissioner Maurizio Agricola.

The operation isn't just about safety. Its objectives also include restoring urban decorum: for this reason, Asia workers were involved, tasked with cleaning and sanitation operations in the square area.

The plan could be extended to other neighborhoods

The initiative represents a model of integrated control between institutions and law enforcement that could be replicated in other areas of the city in the coming hours. The intention is to intensify the presence in the most popular areas, especially during the summer months, when the influx of tourists and travelers increases significantly.
