NAPLES – Another piece of the puzzle for the 38th America's Cup has been put in place. This morning, at the Deme/Invitalia headquarters in Bagnoli, the official handover of the area designated to house Luna Rossa's new base was signed. The base will serve as the Italian team's headquarters for the prestigious sailing competition.
Once the assignment has been formalized, the team will be able to immediately begin construction of the facility, which is expected to be completed by September.
Luna Rossa CEO Max Sirena expressed his satisfaction, thanking everyone involved in the operation. "On behalf of the entire team, I would like to thank Sport e Salute and the national and local authorities who made this transition possible and who are working tirelessly. Now we can begin concrete work on the new headquarters, with the completion scheduled for September. We are very pleased and can't wait to get started."
Sirena also emphasized the strategic value of the project for the local area. "The construction of the foundations will accompany the redevelopment of an area destined to undergo profound transformation and become a new landmark for the city."
Luna Rossa's arrival is indeed one of the symbols of the rebirth of Bagnoli, a neighborhood at the center of a vast urban regeneration program. The new base will not only be the operational heart of the Italian team, but also one of the most iconic elements of the journey that will lead Naples to host one of the world's most important sporting events, with significant benefits for tourism, the economy, and the city's international image.
