Casal di Principe: 20-year-old arrested after arsenal found in home

Casal di Principe – A secret hiding place created in the cavity between a wall and the roof led to the discovery of weapons and ammunition and the arrest of a 20-year-old resident of Casal di Principe. The operation was conducted this morning by Carabinieri officers from the local station, engaged in a targeted territorial patrol.

The officers searched the young man's home, later extending their search to a storage room used for tools. It was here that they located the hidden compartment.

The pen-gun and the 41 cartridges

Inside the cavity, kept in two pouches, the Carabinieri found a homemade 22 caliber pen-pistol, in good condition, together with 41 9x21 caliber cartridges and an empty magazine.

Also present in the same hiding place were a .22 caliber Vulcanic revolver blank-firing pistol, without the expected red cap, and a 6,35 caliber Beretta 8 blank-firing replica pistol, also with an empty magazine and without a red cap.

All the material was seized and will be subjected to further technical and investigative checks to verify its nature, functionality, and provenance.

The 20-year-old was transferred to prison

At the conclusion of the operation, the young man was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a concealed firearm, as well as weapons and ammunition. The competent judicial authority was informed and he was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.

The operation is part of the efforts to prevent and combat illegal possession of weapons, with particular attention to potential hiding places used to conceal material potentially destined for criminal activity.

The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The suspect's liability will be determined by a final judgment.
