Caserta strengthens controls on the tourist tax.

The Municipality of Caserta is intensifying checks on tourist tax payments, recovering outstanding amounts and imposing stiff penalties for those who don't comply, with the aim of supporting tourism and urban decorum.

The Municipality of Caserta has announced enhanced enforcement of tourist tax payments by accommodation facilities in the city. Through close collaboration between municipal offices and the Police Headquarters, visitor data recorded via the "Paytourist" app is cross-referenced to verify payment accuracy and identify any discrepancies.

This initiative has already allowed the recovery of several outstanding amounts from multiple institutions, some of which have regularized their debts while others are in the process of settling their debts.

At the same time, the city administration is urging hospitality businesses that have not yet adopted the digital payment system to register on the "Paytourist" app, a key tool for transparency and accurate tax collection. These measures are part of a broader strategy by the Extraordinary Commission, aimed at combating tax evasion and allocating the collected resources to projects that improve the city's tourist appeal and urban decor.

Furthermore, the Municipality reminds all owners of hotels and other accommodations of their obligation to display their National Identification Code (CIN) outside their properties. This requirement, in addition to ensuring compliance with urban planning and landscape regulations, ensures guests are staying in officially authorized facilities.

Failure to display the CIN carries administrative fines ranging from €500 to €5.000; improper use of the code, such as using a single CIN for multiple establishments, can lead to immediate suspension of operations and reporting to the competent authorities. These measures underscore the Caserta administration's determination to promote a transparent and regulated tourism sector.
