Castel Volturno, illegal car wash seized: wastewater discharged into the sewer system without treatment.

A raid on environmental crimes in Castel Volturno, where the Naples Metropolitan Police seized a completely illegal car wash. The operation was conducted this morning on Via Domitiana as part of efforts to combat environmental crimes in the Land of Fires.

Officers located a business set up on an area of ​​over 500 square meters, covered with plastic and iron structures. Four people were checked on the scene, and one of them was reported to the judicial authorities.

The investigation revealed that the car wash was operating without a permit. The Certified Notification of Commencement of Business (Scia) had not been submitted to the relevant SUAP (Italian Environmental Protection Agency), and the Single Environmental Authorization (Aua), required for discharging liquid waste generated during car washes into the public sewer system, was also missing.

Further checks revealed the absence of documentation relating to the traceability of waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, generated by the activity.

But the most significant aspect concerns wastewater management. The wastewater from vehicle washing was channeled directly into the municipal sewer system, without any purification treatment, posing a real risk of environmental pollution.

The accused was charged with the crimes of unauthorized waste management and unauthorized discharge of industrial wastewater into public sewers.

The intervention was also possible thanks to memoranda of understanding between the prosecutor's offices, which allow the Naples Metropolitan Police to operate, for specific activities to combat environmental crimes, even outside the borders of their own province.
