Castellammare, controversy over paid admission for children at Stone Beach: a regional investigation begins.

In Pozzano, in the municipality of Castellammare di Stabia, a controversy has erupted over the entrance fee for children at the Stone Beach beach resort. According to findings from an inspection by Green Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Green Europe activist Rosario Lotito, minors are required to pay a mandatory €5 entrance fee, which the resort claims is a fee for "use of services."

Borrelli called this practice a violation of Campania's regional regulations on beach resorts, which stipulate that children under 12 accompanied by an adult must access the beach free of charge. The politician emphasized that the law cannot be circumvented by introducing additional charges under other terms.

The MP promptly contacted Regional Councillor Enzo Cuomo, responsible for state maritime property and beach use, who confirmed that inspections and control procedures had been initiated against the facility. Borrelli emphasized the importance of state concession managers adhering to the rules without personal interpretations, threatening to revoke their concessions if they persisted in such practices.

The case thus reignites the debate on the protection of the sea as a public good and the protection of families from potential forms of hidden taxation at bathing areas.
