Pozzuoli: 284 Families Without Contributions Due to Minor Differences: The Committee Sounds the Alarm
Pozzuoli – A breath of fresh air for families in the Campi Flegrei area forced to leave their homes due to bradyseism. Residents of Acer housing units subject to eviction orders will no longer have to pay rent for the entire period during which they are unable to use their property.
The announcement was made by Claudia Pecoraro, Councilor for Housing Policies of the Campania Region, who explained that the measure is a "necessary step" to protect those already suffering the severe consequences of the earthquake emergency. "Acer Campania," she stated, "is carefully defining the affected positions and adopting the resulting measures, ensuring the necessary information is provided to the beneficiaries."
But the Region's intervention doesn't stop at simply suspending rent payments. The ongoing housing emergency has highlighted a second, serious problem: the shortage of available housing and soaring prices in the private rental market. For this reason, a concrete proposal was put forward at the Prefecture meeting.
"We are evaluating an incentive tool to increase the supply of rent-controlled housing for displaced families," Pecoraro continues. The proposal involves establishing a regional fund of approximately €500 to fully cover the property tax (IMU) in municipalities that provide housing through subsidized contracts. The goal is to convince owners of vacant properties to rent to struggling families, effectively eliminating the burden of the municipal tax.
"The suspension of Acer fees is a first concrete step," the councilor concludes. "Now we must continue working on all possible tools: from independent living grants to housing solutions, to incentives to expand the offering. The housing emergency requires immediate responses, but also structural tools that help families overcome this phase."
