The Campania Region has allocated one million euros for independent accommodation and hotel funding for families in Pozzuoli affected by the July 31 earthquake. Meanwhile, assessments are ongoing to ensure the first safe returns.

Campi Flegrei: Campania Region releases €1 million to support families evicted after the earthquake.
Following the earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei area on July 31, the Campania Region took a concrete decision to support displaced families. A decree issued by the General Directorate of Civil Protection on August 17 allocated one million euros, of which 800 were allocated for independent accommodation and 200 for hotel accommodation.
Thanks to this funding, the Municipality of Pozzuoli can immediately proceed with paying applications submitted by residents for independent living.
Meanwhile, the National Civil Protection Department continues its damage assessment activities to buildings with the aim of allowing, starting this week, the safe return of some of the more than three thousand people affected by the emergency.
The Region also participated in two meetings at the Pozzuoli Municipal Operations Center, involving mayors of the Phlegraean Fields area and civic committees, to discuss amendments to the Campi Flegrei decree and gather proposals to address priority issues such as housing availability, tackling high rents, and simplifying procedures for accessing support.
Civil Protection Councillor Fiorella Zabatta stressed that the allocated resources are part of a broader support program across the region, which includes a constant presence alongside residents, emergency services along the seafront and port, a psychological helpline in Monterusciello, and work to build a hub on Via Artiaco.
Solidarity initiatives are also active, such as the "solidarity tent" set up by the Civil Protection Department, where people can donate basic necessities for those in reception centers. Regional President Roberto Fico has confirmed his commitment to not abandoning the population and to working to facilitate the safe return of families and support economic operators, through regulatory changes currently being finalized in collaboration with the municipalities and the Prefecture of Naples.
A single-issue regional council meeting on the issue has been convened for August 27 to review the emergency and the actions to be taken.
