Tragic road accident in Calitri: 48-year-old motorcyclist dies
A fatal accident marked Tuesday, August 18, 2026, on Provincial Road 401, in the municipality of Calitri, in the province of Avellino. A 48-year-old motorcyclist, resident in the province of Potenza, died instantly after a head-on collision with an oncoming car.
The Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi Carabinieri, 118 paramedics, and ANAS technicians responded promptly to the scene of the accident to conduct the necessary investigations and secure the roadway. Traffic was suspended for several hours to allow for rescue and investigation operations.
The causes of the collision are still being investigated by the competent authorities.
