Fuel prices continue to rise as taxi protests continue in Naples: shocking stickers appear on 900 vehicles.

Naples – The protests by Neapolitan taxi drivers against the soaring prices of gasoline and diesel show no signs of abating. Instead, the protests are escalating and opting for visual provocation: a direct warning to customers and institutions that feels like an ultimatum.

Since this evening, an unmistakable message has appeared on the rear windows and bodywork of 900 cars circulating between the center and the outskirts of Naples: "This vehicle will stop soon, no support for us."

A grassroots initiative

This is not a typical strike called by the unions, but rather a widespread action that arose spontaneously among the cars in service.

"We paid our own taxes, one by one, to make these stickers," explains Guido Savastano, taxi driver and union representative.

The first batches, printed by a local printer, were distributed this afternoon. The goal of the "white cars" is to cover the entire fleet in a shower within a few days, transforming the fleet into a veritable traveling protest billboard.

Anger over "denied support"

The discontent stems from the progressive erosion of profit margins for a sector considered an essential public service, combined with a strong sense of discrimination compared to other mobility sectors.

The disparity: "There are support measures for truck drivers and fishermen," Savastano insists, "while for us, who ensure the mobility of thousands of people every day, nothing is foreseen."

The demands: The category calls for immediate and concrete interventions from the Government and local authorities, including:

Fuel tax credit;

Direct contributions to control management costs;

Facilitated access to funds dedicated to ecological transition and vehicle fleet renewal.

Next stop: a complete stop?

For now, the decision has been made not to paralyze the city, continuing to provide service and focusing on raising awareness among users. But the measure seems to be enough: if the institutions don't provide concrete responses quickly, the slogan plastered on the windows could quickly turn from a mere threat into reality.
