Portici — A school desk, a boy writing with pen and paper, the silence broken only by the rustling sea breeze. All around, fishermen, laundry hanging from the windows, the sunset turning the Bourbon port of Granatello gold. This is the image that will bring Portici to the forefront of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, thanks to a promotional video produced as part of the national CIPS (Cinema and Images for Schools) program, promoted by the Ministries of Culture and Education and Merit.
The short film, which will be screened during the Festival to launch the new school year's activities, explores, in an almost romantic way, the connection between school, cinema, and the local area. The chosen location is the Granatello harbor, a treasure trove of beauty that continues to attract major film and advertising productions.
Giuseppe Marco Albano is directing, while production is handled by Run Film, owned by Alessandro Cannavale, son of Neapolitan actor Enzo. "Just looking out is enough to understand why we chose Portici: the beauty of these places speaks for itself," Cannavale said in a video interview. "Portici is a fantastic city that always welcomes you.
Mayor Claudio Teodonno also expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing the unique features of the Portici area: from the Bourbon Royal Palace to Italy's first railway station, to the Granatello port, all testaments to a rich history and unique cultural heritage.
The video, in addition to being screened in Venice, will also be shown in schools as part of the educational activities envisaged by the CIPS plan, which aims to promote cinematic and audiovisual language among students.
