Naples Weather August 22st
The late August weekend kicks off with a hot Saturday, August 22nd, but with residual atmospheric instability in Campania. The low pressure system that has affected several areas of Italy in the past few hours is gradually moving away, but showers and thunderstorms are still possible in the region, especially in the early part of the day.
According to the ARPAC bulletin, Campania remains in a high-pressure system today, but the sky may be cloudy, with the possibility of isolated showers or thunderstorms. Winds will be light and variable, and weather conditions will remain slightly unstable.
However, the weather in the capital appears to be improving. The hourly forecast calls for a morning characterized by clouds and possible showers, with temperatures around 28-29 degrees Celsius in the central hours of the morning. In the afternoon, large clearings are expected, with temperatures reaching around 31-32 degrees Celsius.
Winds will generally be light to moderate, with prevailing southerly and southwesterly winds during the hottest hours. By evening, skies should return to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures still high but gradually decreasing.
The yellow weather alert for thunderstorms remains in effect for the day. The Civil Protection measure applies to the entire Campania region, including the Campanian Plain, Naples, the islands and the Vesuvian area, the Upper Volturno and Matese areas, the Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, the Sarno and Picentini Mountains, Tusciano, and Alto Sele.
In Naples, the alert was also accompanied by precautionary measures: the Municipality ordered the closure of city parks and the Bagnoli North Pier during the period covered by the warning, which was valid until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 22nd.
The deterioration, however, appears to be temporary. After possible precipitation this morning, the situation should gradually stabilize, giving way to a sunnier and warmer day.
Temperatures will remain typically summery: highs around 30-32 degrees are expected on the Neapolitan coast, while inland areas of Campania, temperatures may be locally higher.
The forecast for the next few days also indicates a trend toward more stable conditions, with the return of sunshine and temperatures rising again. Generally calmer conditions are expected in Naples on Sunday, August 23rd.
In summary: Saturday, August 22nd, starts with some clouds and the risk of local showers or thunderstorms, especially in the morning, but the weather is expected to improve. The heat returns in the afternoon, with highs of around 31-32 degrees Celsius in Naples. However, caution is advised until 2:00 PM, when the yellow alert for thunderstorms will remain in effect.
