Via Salita Capodimonte, the place where the discovery was made
Naples – An ingenious hiding place, built into the exterior wall of a building and protected by gas pipes, was where police discovered a package containing 125 grams of pure cocaine, left at the disposal of unknown persons.
The discovery was made yesterday morning, during a foot patrol by officers from the San Carlo Arena police station's investigative team along Salita Capodimonte, in the Sanità district.
During their passage, investigators noticed some suspicious details near the facade of a building. A more thorough search led to the location of the stash and the recovery of the drugs.
The drug was seized and is currently held by unknown persons. The quantity recovered, while not particularly large, represents a significant haul for the local drug trafficking network.
Once divided into doses, in fact, the cocaine could have been placed on the retail market, fueling the illegal sales circuit.
The operation took place in an area long considered by investigators to be particularly sensitive in terms of organized crime and drug dealing. The Salita Capodimonte area is historically associated with the influence of the Sequino-Savarese Camorra cartel, making the discovery of the warehouse even more significant.
The system used to conceal the drugs was evidently designed to make the cargo difficult to detect during routine law enforcement checks. However, the officers' inspection uncovered the hiding place.
The seizure now represents the starting point for further investigations. Investigators are trying to understand who had access to that particular hiding place and who the cocaine was intended for.
For this reason, footage from public and private security cameras in the area was acquired. The goal is to reconstruct the movements of people who may have approached the building's wall in the last few hours or days.
The images could provide useful information to identify the users of the warehouse and trace those responsible for the drugs.
