A Beninese woman with acute leukemia was transferred to Naples to receive specialized treatment at Cardarelli Hospital, thanks to a collaboration between the DareFuturo association and the Italian public health system.

DareFuturo and Cardarelli join forces to fight rare onco-hematological diseases.
Immaculee, a 45-year-old mother of four, came to Italy from Benin to treat a complex hemato-oncological condition, acute leukemia, which requires highly specialized care. She was admitted to the Hematology Department of the AORN Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, a facility recognized for its multidisciplinary expertise and advanced technologies required to manage cases of this nature.
Immaculee's transfer was made possible by the DareFuturo association, which has been working in Benin for years to support La Croix Hospital in Cotonou, the local healthcare hub. The case was identified in collaboration with the Camillian Fathers, but the resources and technologies available in Benin could not guarantee adequate treatment. DareFuturo therefore initiated a collaboration process with Cardarelli Hospital, obtaining authorizations from the Campania Region, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cardarelli Hospital's general director, Antonio d'Amore, emphasized the value of Italy's public healthcare system, which offers free, high-quality care even to patients from international backgrounds. This case highlights how Neapolitan public healthcare represents a benchmark well beyond regional borders, providing resources that few hospitals in Italy can provide.
Roberto Pennisi, president of the DareFuturo association, highlighted the importance of collaboration between organizations and volunteers who, with financial contributions and personal commitment, made Immaculee's transfer and reception possible.
The association covered the patient's travel and accommodation costs thanks to funds raised at charity events, including a celebration scheduled for September 16th at the Circolo Posillipo in Naples. Pennisi finally emotionally recalled the similarities between Immaculee's illness and that of Enrico Di Salvo, a figure dear to the community, highlighting the sense of humanity and solidarity that drives these initiatives.
