Overturned tanker
There were moments of concern this afternoon in Acerra, where an articulated lorry carrying LPG overturned on Via Varignano, requiring the intervention of the Carabinieri from the local station and the Fire Brigade.
According to an initial reconstruction, still under investigation by investigators, the heavy vehicle, an Iveco, overturned for reasons currently under investigation. The driver, a man born in 1989, was injured in the impact.
The driver was treated by 118 paramedics and transferred to the Acerra clinic emergency room, where doctors diagnosed him with multiple trauma and a head injury. His condition is being monitored closely.
Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the accident, avoiding much more serious consequences given the nature of the load being transported.
To allow for rescue operations and subsequent safety measures in the area, Via Varignano was temporarily closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic was diverted along Via Gaudello and Ponte dei Cani, with inevitable delays to local traffic.
The Fire Brigade responded to the scene, carrying out the delicate operations of securing the semi-trailer and its load of LPG, while the Carabinieri carried out surveys to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident.
