Terzigno: 14-year-old boy at school with a knife
He had only turned 14 a few days earlier, and in his backpack, along with his books and school supplies, he had a kitchen knife with an 18-centimeter blade. This was discovered at a scientific high school in Terzigno, where the school year had just begun.
The presence of the weapon among the student's personal belongings aroused the school principal's suspicions. He then contacted the Carabinieri at the Terzigno station, requesting their intervention.
The Carabinieri arrived at the school and recovered the knife, proceeding to seize it. The boy's mother was also called to the scene.
According to initial investigations, the 14-year-old had gotten into a heated argument with a classmate the previous day. This information is now being examined by the police to more precisely reconstruct why the young man had a blade of that size with him.
At the end of the investigations, the boy was reported for illegal possession of a weapon.
The incident draws attention to the widespread use of knives and other improper weapons among young people. This situation is especially concerning when blades end up in schools, places where conflicts and arguments between children can become particularly sensitive.
The Terzigno case also fits into a broader framework of checks conducted by the Carabinieri in the province of Naples.
From January 1st to August, according to data provided by the Carabinieri, the Naples Provincial Command seized 150 improper weapons, including blades, knuckledusters, and other objects usable as weapons.
During the same period, 78 firearms were also seized. On the judicial front, 44 people were arrested for illegal possession or carrying of weapons, while 138 were reported.
These numbers reflect the scale of the enforcement activity carried out in the area and, in the case of Terzigno, are intertwined with a particularly sensitive incident: an 18-centimeter knife ended up in the backpack of a 14-year-old boy, right in the first few days of the new school year.
