Three children aged 3, 4, and 7 were taken away yesterday morning from Lanciano, in the province of Chieti, and taken to a foster home. This was announced by lawyers Angelo and Sergio Pisani, representing Pietro Loffredo, the children's father and the father of Fortuna Loffredo, the girl who was raped and thrown into the air on June 24, 2014, in Caivano's Parco Verde, in the province of Naples.
According to the still-distraught family, the two youngest children were reportedly taken from their mother's arms. The eldest daughter was reportedly taken to school by social workers, accompanied by plainclothes officers.
The lawyers describe the operation as sudden and without any prior incidents, warnings, or complaints. They also emphasize that the family doesn't even live in the municipality of Lanciano.
The removal was allegedly carried out by social services with the assistance of law enforcement and, according to what was communicated to the parents, with the authorization of the Prosecutor's Office. The measure was allegedly based on poor hygiene and the presence of dogs in the home. These allegations, the Pisanis specify, "are firmly contested by the panicked parents."
"We will immediately request full access to the documents and verification of the grounds for such a serious and traumatic measure," Angelo and Sergio Pisani stated. "The protection of minors requires rigorous investigations, proportionality, and immediate judicial review. We demand transparency and justice without delay, in the interest of the three children's psychological and physical well-being and to avoid suffering and irreparable consequences."
The two lawyers also ask that all necessary precautions be taken and that immediate psychological support be provided to the minors and their parents.
The defense attorneys cite the family's past: "It cannot be ignored that this father has already suffered the tragic loss of a daughter. A new and sudden separation without real danger or justification risks reopening a devastating wound and causing serious emotional destabilization within the entire family."
Every risk, they add, "must be assessed and prevented with the utmost urgency." The lawyers announce that they will do "everything required by law to establish the truth and secure the rapid reunification of the children with their parents," including involving the institutions "in compliance with constitutional values and principles."
At this time, the legal basis for the measure, the content of the case, and the timing of any review remain unclear. The version made public is, at this time, that of the family and their lawyers.
