Procida, hashish travels by mail: two dealers arrested with 100 grams of drugs and 7,000 euros.

Procida – The operation began along Via Vittorio Emanuele. At number 277, the officers' attention was drawn to a figure familiar from the judicial archives: Gianluca Barone, 26. The young man was exiting the postal sorting center carrying a freshly wrapped box. Upon seeing the police car, the young man showed signs of nervousness, prompting the Carabinieri to conduct an on-the-spot check.

The gross error on the address

Upon examining the package's label, officers noticed that the recipient's name didn't match the 26-year-old's. When pressed, the young man attempted to justify himself by claiming he had picked up the package on behalf of a friend. This version collapsed upon initial formal verification: the residential address printed on the waybill paradoxically matched the location of the same sorting center. Opening the box confirmed their suspicions, revealing a compact block of hashish weighing 102 grams.

The findings in the homes and the arrest

The subsequent search of Barone's home yielded a further dose of the same substance. Immediate investigations then led law enforcement to the home of an alleged accomplice, Davide Spinelli, 35, who was also already known to law enforcement.

At Spinelli's property, officers found another 121 grams of hashish and €6.820 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. Both men were arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, pending a summary trial.
