'I, Siegfried, and the Storms': Lives Reflected in Maria Rosaria Boccia's Book

Pompeii – A Book and Sigfrido Ranucci: Maria Rosaria Boccia, the Pompeii entrepreneur and former flame of journalist and former Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, is capitalizing on the media hype surrounding the former Report host's experiences and publishing a true-to-life book.

The Sangiuliano affair in 2024 was the catalyst for the two's acquaintance and friendship. Since then, their relationship has evolved from a 'friendship' at first sight through conversations, confidences, and advice that the entrepreneur says she exchanged with the 'superman' Ranucci.

"Woe to Whoever Touches It – I, Siegfried, and the Storms," ​​the book in which Maria Rosaria Boccia reveals the behind-the-scenes story of her relationship with her friend Ranucci, is due out next Saturday. She herself announced she was writing the book with the journalist, the victim of last October's attack, during the heated summer of investigations into the incident. Ranucci himself later denied the claims of a joint editorial collaboration with the Pompeii entrepreneur.

And instead, the book exists but she is the only one signing it.

The entrepreneur reconstructs her relationship with the former host of Report, which began in September 2024, when she was at the center of national news due to her connection with then-Minister Sangiuliano. This bond gradually developed into friendship. Meetings, phone calls, discussions, and exchanges, the bond eventually transcended the confines of journalist and interview.

In the book, Boccia reconstructs their relationship through personal memories, conversations, and documents, thus bringing out the private Siegfried the author knew: the phone calls, the video calls, the irony, the discussions, the satirical front pages constructed as a joke, the gianduiotti that became a sort of symbolic currency of their conversations, and the nickname "Superman" that Boccia began to call him.

The story unfolds up to the present day and the vicissitudes of the journalist and the investigation into the attack.

The entrepreneur recounts the women in Ranucci's life, their secrets. And then the conversation the author had with Laura Cianfoni in May 2025, regarding Ranucci and the frequency of contact between the two.

"I wrote this book," the author explains, "because for almost two years I saw two stories moving in opposite directions and, at a certain point, almost mirroring each other. In 2024, I was the one being observed, narrated, judged, and often interpreted by others, while Sigfrido was doing his job and asking me questions; in the summer of 2026, I saw my friend, with all the inherent differences, find himself on the other side of the lens."

In short, a "beatification" book for Ranucci, who will undoubtedly have consented to the publication of his personal conversations with the author. Unless there are any denials to that effect. While the book is expected to be published, there is currently no mention of any details or incidents related to Valter Lavitola, the fixer who confessed to instigating the attack on the journalist.

Maria Rosaria Boccia, therefore, seizes the opportunity to capitalize on the media hype surrounding the journalist's vicissitudes, extolling his virtues and describing his passions in her first book. In recent months, the entrepreneur had not shied away from public outbursts regarding her closeness to the former Report host, and this morning, the two were once again linked—in several newspaper articles—in connection with the unauthorized entry of individuals outside of RAI into the Report studios.

In fact, according to the entrepreneur's lawyers, it's not in the complaint for violation of the code of ethics filed against Ranucci. "Contrary to what appears in the misleading press articles, Dr. Boccia's name does not appear in the text of the complaint filed by RAI against Sigfrido Ranucci."

Francesco Di Deco, Maria Rosaria Boccia's lawyer, said in a statement, adding: "It follows that the journalistic reports that indicated her visits to RAI as the subject of the dispute do not correspond to the content of the document." "I hope," Di Deco continued, "that the publication of a story found to be inconsistent with the document will now be followed, with similar clarity, by its timely correction. I will also evaluate, together with my colleagues on the defense team, Saverio Sapia and Francesco Petruzzi, the possibility and appropriateness of taking any action that would protect my client's integrity," the lawyer concluded.
