Procida welcomes its first jazz festival with over fifty international artists

The island of Procida is preparing to become the stage for a new cultural event: the Procida Jazz Fest. From September 10th to 13th, over fifty musicians from various countries will perform in a festival that will range from the African-American roots of swing and bebop to Latin influences and bossa nova, including American standards and singer-songwriter music.

The heart of the festival will be the main stage in Marina Grande, where every evening at 21 pm, top-notch bands will perform. It kicks off on Thursday the 10th with the Half Century Trio Orchestra, composed of local artists, followed on Friday the 11th by Max Ionata and the Hammond Groovers 4et. On Saturday the 12th, Giuseppe Venezia's quintet will host the trumpet of Fabrizio Bosso, one of the most anticipated musicians.

There will be no shortage of evocative moments at sunset at the Tenimento Agricolo di Terra Murata, with concerts at 19 pm. Among the performers will be the young Turkish talent Hakan Başar, the Dany Noel Latin Jazz Trio and the Freedom Jazz Quartet accompanied by Argentine legend Javier Girotto.

In an even more intimate and special atmosphere, the festival also offers "Jazz Breakfasts" at 6 a.m. on the Sopraflutto Pier, with solo piano performances by Hakan Başar and Procida pianist Maria Grazia Ritrovato, accompanied by the panorama of the Gulf of Naples.

The event will conclude on Sunday the 13th in the square with a tribute to Frank Sinatra by Gianluca Guidi and the Elio Coppola Trio.

The Procida Jazz Fest is a collaboration between the New Around Midnight, Napoli Jazz Club, and Marina di Procida associations, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region, the Metropolitan City of Naples, and the Municipality of Procida. The goal is to include the island in the national jazz festival circuit and extend the tourist season.

Fans will also be able to purchase official festival merchandise at the Maccarìa store in Via Vittorio Emanuele 35.

The artistic direction is entrusted to Michele Solipano, who expressed enthusiasm for the participation of international artists and local talent, thanking the Municipality and the business community for their support. Rounding out the cultural offering is the photography exhibition "Fotografando Jazz" by Francesco Truono, open at Palazzo d'Avalos until September 20, and the presentation of the book "Jazz Story, il diario di Tony Monten" by writer and director Lino Volpe, scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
