A broken pipeline between Sarno and Boscotrecase puts taps at risk in 12 municipalities.

Ercolano – A strategic water supply artery burst this afternoon, causing a cascade of pressure and supply disruptions in a significant portion of the Vesuvian area and the Sarno plain. The DN 1300 Sarno-Boscotrecase supply pipeline, which feeds the Sarnese-Vesuvian system with a flow rate of up to 1.000 liters per second, suffered a sudden rupture.

The result is a widespread emergency: outages and drops in pressure in twelve municipalities.

Boscoreale, Ercolano, Ottaviano, Pompeii, San Giuseppe Vesuviano, San Marzano sul Sarno, Scafati, Striano, Terzigno, Torre del Greco, Trecase, and Torre Annunziata are affected. Not all taps are equally dry: in some neighborhoods, water is missing, in others, it arrives intermittently or doesn't reach the upper floors. The list of streets is updated on the Gori portal. The project, according to the company, is "highly technically and operationally complex."

Technicians are already on site. Barring any construction site obstacles, Gori expects a gradual restoration of normal water supply by 8:00 PM today, Friday, September 18th. Resumption will not be immediate everywhere: the network must be refilled and regulated in specific areas. A replacement service has been activated to cover the most critical hours. Water tankers and fountains have been dispatched to San Giuseppe Vesuviano, San Marzano sul Sarno, Striano, Terzigno, and Torre del Greco.

Those living in other affected municipalities should check online updates and the toll-free number. When the water returns, a brief cloudiness is possible.
