Caserta, 48-year-old arrested after attempting to run over several people, then dousing them with flammable liquid.

An attempted car crash, followed by the pouring of flammable liquid on people with the intent, according to the prosecution, to set them on fire. This sequence of violence led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man, originally from the Aversa countryside and long-time resident of the Le Querce village in Galluccio, Caserta.

The man is seriously suspected of attempted multiple homicide. The Carabinieri of the Sessa Aurunca Company's Operational and Radiomobile Unit and the military of the Mignano Monte Lungo Station intervened, and arrested him in flagrante delicto.

First the threats, then the attempted investment

The incident unfolded overnight, when the 48-year-old allegedly made repeated threats to several people in the village, including the administrator of the company responsible for maintaining the residential complex.
According to investigators' current reconstruction, after the threats, the man allegedly used his car to run over some of the people involved in the argument. This tense moment was followed by an even more serious act.

The 48-year-old allegedly poured a significant amount of flammable liquid on those present, intending to set them on fire. This attempt was apparently not carried out due to circumstances beyond his control. It is precisely this element, according to the investigative approach and the charges raised by the Prosecutor's Office, that supports the hypothesis of attempted multiple homicide.

The climate of tension in the village

The episode is part of a context that, according to investigators, has already been characterized by other serious episodes of violence.

The Le Querce village is home to approximately 160 villas, and recently, some owners and workers within the residential complex have reportedly been involved in further incidents that have fueled a climate of high tension. Investigations are underway to determine any connections between the various incidents.

The investigation is being coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Cassino Court, which will now reconstruct in detail the dynamics of the attack, the motives that preceded it, and any other evidence that might help clarify the context in which it occurred.

In prison after the validation of the measure

After the usual formalities, the 48-year-old was transferred to the Cassino prison, where he remained at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The preliminary investigations judge of the Cassino Court, accepting the requests of the Prosecutor's Office and deeming that there were serious indications of a crime, ordered his pre-trial detention in prison.

The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The suspect's position will therefore be assessed during the ongoing investigation and any subsequent trial phases. The man, as provided by law, will be able to exercise all rights of defense and must be considered not guilty until a final verdict is reached.
