America's Cup 2027: Edoardo Bennato writes the official anthem: "I'm an expert in sports theme songs."

Edoardo Bennato will compose the official anthem for the 2027 America's Cup. The Neapolitan singer-songwriter returns to compose a celebratory song for a major sporting event, following his experience with "Notti magiche" for the 90 World Cup in Italy.

Bennato spoke about the project's birth on the sidelines of the official opening event of the America's Cup Preliminary Regatta, from the terrace of the Nisida Juvenile Detention Center, where he is expected to perform.

"They told me I was an expert in sports theme songs, that I'm from Naples and Bagnoli, so they asked me, 'Why don't you do the America's Cup theme song?'" the singer-songwriter joked. The event in Nisida will also have a special meaning. In front of the young inmates, Bennato will sing "L'isola che non c'è," a song chosen for its message of hope and confidence in the future.

"One of the reasons I'm here is to be able to greet the kids and give them a boost of energy. Music, above all, is this: it's an exchange of emotions and positive energy, and I think these kids need it," the artist explained.

Then he referred to the song he'll perform on the institute's stage: "Neverland is a song of hope, and therefore an invitation to hope, to believe in yourself to achieve your dreams and for a better future."

Bennato's choice thus ties the major international sailing event to the city, and specifically to Bagnoli and Nisida, places central to the Neapolitan singer-songwriter's history and identity. The anthem will accompany the race toward the 2027 America's Cup, while his performance at the juvenile detention center will bring a musical message to the young inmates.
