Campania, a yellow weather alert is in effect until Friday: thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds.

Campania is facing a new phase of instability. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow weather alert, valid from 9:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, until 12:00 PM on Friday, September 18, throughout the region.

The forecast calls for sudden showers and thunderstorms, locally intense, with particular attention to zone 1, which includes the Campanian plain, Naples, the islands and the Vesuvian area, and zone 3, between the Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, the Sarno Mountains and the Picentini Mountains.

The weather situation remains characterized by instability and forecast uncertainty. Storms could develop rapidly and reach considerable intensity, accompanied by hailstorms, lightning, and gusts of wind.

The strong atmospheric stresses could cause damage to roofs and exposed structures, while on the hydrogeological front, possible flooding, overflowing, rising water levels, and water flow along roadways have been reported.

Maximum caution is also required in the areas affected by recent forest fires. The vulnerability of the terrain could increase the risk of rockfall and landslides in the event of heavy rainfall.

The warning, developed based on assessments by the Regional Functional Center, was forwarded to municipalities by the Civil Protection Unit's Unified Operations Room. Administrations are advised to implement all measures set forth in their respective emergency plans to prevent and contain the effects of weather events.

Particular attention is also required for public greenery and structures exposed to the wind, checking their stability in view of possible gusts.
