Campi Flegrei: The Cumana line reopens on September 11th, including the new Pozzuoli station.

Naples – The Cumana line will resume passenger service on September 11, along the entire stretch between Torregaveta and Montesanto. At the same time, the new EAV station in Pozzuoli, a strategic hub for thousands of commuters, students, and workers in the Phlegraean Fields area, will begin service. The announcement comes from the Campania Region's Vice President and Councilor for Transport, Mario Casillo, and the regional Councilor for Civil Protection, Fiorella Zabatta.

Line 2, first signs of recovery

Good news also for Line 2, where concrete progress has been made toward restoring rail service between Naples Campi Flegrei and Pozzuoli Solfatara. The interventions implemented by RFI, also based on the recommendations emerging from discussions promoted by the Regional Department of Civil Protection, are producing tangible results.

Specifically, RFI announced that CO2 levels detected in the tunnel between Campi Flegrei and Bagnoli have been significantly reduced thanks to the use of forced ventilation systems. Operating procedures are now being examined that could soon allow the single-track reopening of the section between the Piazzale Tecchio station (Campi Flegrei) and Pozzuoli Solfatara.

The service's feasibility will be assessed in the coming days by the relevant local health authority, as part of the technical-scientific committee coordinated by the Campania Region. The data collected by RFI, currently below the threshold, represents progress toward the possible restoration of the service.
