Caserta: At Sant'Anna Hospital, robotic surgery with Hugo RAS and digital surgical procedures are underway.

Caserta – The Caserta Hospital announces the launch of robotic surgery using the Hugo RAS system, operating in a dedicated room within the new operating suite. The project is led by the director of the University-run Urology Unit, Ferdinando Fusco, supported by his team and the operating suite staff. Three months after the start of operations, 12 procedures have been performed, concentrated in the summer quarter; the operations involved urological conditions.

The robotics suite is dominated by the Hugo RAS surgical robot, a modular four-arm system controlled by the surgeon via a console. It offers high-definition, high-precision three-dimensional vision, improving the technique of laparoscopic soft tissue surgery. The Surgery and Gynecology departments will also be involved in the future.

General Manager Gennaro Volpe emphasizes that robotic surgery is strengthening and enhancing the surgical offerings at the Caserta Regional Hospital. An advanced surgical management model has been implemented, combining organizational centralization, digitalization of processes, images, and clinical information, with immediate access to operating room data and continuous performance monitoring. The goal is to ensure quality, transparency, time optimization, safety, and efficiency. The Sant'Anna e San Sebastiano Hospital is progressively developing this model to strengthen the attractiveness of the Campania hospital system.
