Castel Volturno: 58-year-old woman flees on the Domitiana Highway after failing to stop at Carabinieri checkpoint.

Castel Volturno—She apparently failed to stop at the Carabinieri's order and continued along the Domitiana road, sparking a chase that lasted several kilometers. The escape ended yesterday afternoon in Castel Volturno, on Via Adige, where a 58-year-old woman was stopped and arrested by officers from the Mondragone Carabinieri Territorial Unit.

The incident occurred during a Carabinieri patrol in the Mondragone area. At the roundabout between Domitiana and Via Castel Volturno, officers reportedly stopped a black Mini Cooper.

According to the reconstruction, the driver failed to comply with the order, accelerating and driving away onto ordinary roads. From that point, a chase ensued, lasting several kilometers to the Castel Volturno area.

The car was eventually caught and stopped on Via Adige, in the first cross street. Once stopped, however, the situation escalated: the 58-year-old woman first threatened the Carabinieri, then attacked them with kicks and punches.

Two officers sustained injuries in the fight. The woman was subsequently arrested in flagrante delicto: based on the investigation, she is considered seriously suspected of resisting a public official, assault or threats against a public official, and personal injury.

Further checks revealed that the Mini Cooper, registered to the same 58-year-old woman, did not have the required liability insurance. The vehicle was therefore seized and handed over to a licensed company.

The woman, a Nigerian citizen legally present in Italy, was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison after completing the formal procedures and is now at the disposal of the competent judicial authorities.
