Castellammare, 'Help, he's killing me': A bloodied woman is saved by an off-duty police officer.

Castellammare – A car abandoned in the middle of the road with its doors open, a woman running desperately, her face covered in blood, and a man behind her determined to catch up. It took only a few moments for an off-duty Carabiniere to understand the gravity of what was happening and intervene before the violence escalated.

The incident occurred yesterday evening in Castellammare di Stabia, where officers from the local Company's Operations and Radiomobile Unit arrested a 40-year-old local man, unemployed and already known to law enforcement, on charges of domestic abuse and aggravated assault against his 46-year-old live-in partner.

The desperate escape and the pursuit

The officer, a member of the Stabia Mobile Radio Unit, was driving along Via Pozzillo when he noticed the 46-year-old woman stop her car abruptly and run out to escape. Behind her, the man was chasing her at a short distance without giving her any respite.

In a desperate attempt to escape the attack, the woman managed to slip through the door of a local business, hoping to find shelter among the bystanders. The pursuer, however, refused to give up and entered the premises to complete his punitive action.

The raid on the premises and the arrest

Without hesitation, the Carabinieri officer followed the two men into the store, shielding the victim just as the 40-year-old was about to lunge at her again. After subduing him and securing the area, the officer alerted the operations center. Within minutes, a squad of uniformed colleagues arrived on the scene, taking charge of the agitated man and formally arresting him.

The 46-year-old was immediately taken to the emergency room at San Leonardo Hospital in Castellammare di Stabia. Paramedics diagnosed her with a fractured nose and significant bruising on her upper lip. These injuries were deemed curable with a prognosis of thirty days.

Following the routine checks at the police station, the 40-year-old was taken to the Naples Poggioreale prison, where he was held by the judicial authorities pending a hearing to confirm his arrest.
