Davide Di Lernia dies after being beheaded after crashing his motorcycle into a tram railing.

Davide Antonio Di Lernia, son of popular radio host and television personality Leone Di Lernia, died overnight at the age of 47. The tragedy occurred in Milan, shortly after midnight between Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, along Via Mecenate, where the 47-year-old was riding his motorcycle toward Piazza Ovidio.

According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, for reasons yet to be determined, the motorcycle suddenly veered to the left. The vehicle then crashed into the metal railing protecting the tram stop, which separates the roadway from the tracks.
The impact was extremely violent and left Di Lernia with no chance of escape: the 47-year-old was beheaded.

The reconstruction was entrusted to the local police

Emergency responders and officers from the Milan Local Police Radiomobile responded to the scene of the accident and are now working to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the crash.

The motorcycle has been seized, and further investigations will determine what caused the loss of control. At this time, it is unclear whether the accident was caused by road conditions, a sudden maneuver, illness, or other factors. Investigators will also need to verify the vehicle's trajectory and any other information that may help clarify the final moments before the impact.

The last images a few hours before the tragedy

Making the news even more dramatic is the fact that just a few hours before the accident, Di Lernia had shared some images on social media from Carl Cox's DJ set at Carroponte.
A final fragment of his evening, before the tragedy that would unfold that night on the streets of Milan.

Working in radio and in the production world

Davide Antonio Di Lernia worked in communications and radio, including production and video production. Throughout his career, he collaborated with radio stations such as Radio Monte Carlo, Radio 105, and Virgin Radio.

He was the son of Leone Di Lernia, a well-known face and voice on Italian radio, who died in 2017 at the age of 78. A singer-songwriter, television personality, and radio host, Leone Di Lernia had also become particularly popular for his musical parodies and his long stint on Zoo di 105.

The son's death thus brings a family with decades of involvement in radio and entertainment back to the forefront, while investigators in Milan are still trying to answer questions about the circumstances of the accident.
