European Heritage Days 2026: Cappella Sansevero opens with extended hours

The Sansevero Chapel Museum in Naples is participating in the 2026 European Heritage Days by extending its opening hours on Saturday, September 26, until 20:30 PM. Starting this year, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Friends of Naples association for the restoration of the Formiello Fountain in Piazza Enrico de Nicola.

Participation methods and thematic context

Visits require reservations on museosansevero.it. Last admission is at 20:00 PM, with closing at 20:30 PM. The theme of the event is Protecting Heritage. Renewing, Resisting, Reinventing, and the museum confirms its commitment to a cultural solidarity project: €1 for every paying visitor will go to Friends of Naples for the restoration of the fountain.

The Formiello Fountain and its restoration

The fountain, located along the east wall of the Castel Capuano headquarters, is part of a historic and monumental context in Naples. The restoration project began in 2024 thanks to the collaboration between the City of Naples and ABC Napoli; it will now continue with Friends of Naples, which will oversee the conservation of the original materials, protection of the stone surfaces, cleaning and structural consolidation, and the installation of protection and enhancement systems, including artistic lighting and ecological measures to protect against birds.
