Forio, two young people fall from a cliff while fleeing in a car: serious injuries

Forio di Ischia – A night ended in tragedy for three local youths. Late in the evening, two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old were involved in a serious car accident that saw them crash into a cliff in Forio.

According to initial reports, the vehicle was stolen from a woman who had left her car unattended with the keys still in the ignition.

The three teenagers, after driving away in the vehicle, apparently lost control of the vehicle, skidding off the road and plummeting down the cliff. Rescue operations were immediately dispatched to the scene, coordinated by law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.

The clinical picture of the injured

Two of the three young men, both 18, were transferred with critical conditions to the Ospedale del Mare and the Cardarelli hospitals in Naples, respectively, where they are in critical condition. The third young man, 17, was admitted for observation to the Rizzoli Hospital in Lacco Ameno. His condition is currently not of particular concern.

At the scene of the accident, investigations are underway by the Carabinieri of the Ischia Company, who are called upon to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident and to verify the circumstances that led to the alleged theft of the vehicle.

Investigators are also interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence to clarify how the three young men came into possession of the car.
