Castellammare, terror and violence against disabled mother: 50-year-old arrested

Castellammare di Stabia – A climate of constant terror within the home, characterized by verbal assaults, physical and psychological abuse, and constant demands for money to fuel a drug addiction. A daily nightmare that was put to an end by officers from the Castellammare di Stabia Carabinieri Station, executing a precautionary detention order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court, at the request of the Oplonti prosecutor's office.

A 50-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse—aggravated by the assault on a disabled person over seventy—and attempted extortion, aggravated by assault, against his brother.

The August intervention and the climate of terror

The investigation, coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office, began on August 1, 2026. On that date, the Carabinieri intervened on their own initiative at the family home following a report of a violent argument, during which the 50-year-old had seriously threatened his mother.

From that initial intervention, further investigations uncovered a dramatic reality. According to investigators' reconstruction, the man's aggressive behavior, conditioned by his drug addiction, forced his cohabiting mother to live in a constant state of prostration and fear for her safety, to the point of completely isolating herself and no longer leaving the house.

Video evidence and extortion of his brother

The evidence gathered by investigators is based on the complaints filed by the victims, the interviews with several witnesses, and the acquisition of computer media containing valuable video footage of the attacks. The videos and accounts revealed that the 50-year-old not only harassed his mother, but also directed the same intimidating behavior toward his brother, in a constant attempt to extort money from him to purchase narcotics.

The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The precautionary measure of detention remains subject to appeal before the Court of Review. In accordance with the constitutional principle of the presumption of innocence, the suspect is presumed not guilty until a final conviction is issued.
