Gettonopoli in Naples: Strazzullo calls for clarity and proposes mass resignations of councilors.

Regarding the media outcry surrounding the affair dubbed Gettonopoli, which has affected municipal councils since 2016 but with procedures unchanged since the establishment of the ten municipalities in 2006, the former councilor of Municipality 9 Pianura/Soccavo, Pasquale Strazzullo (in office 2009-2021), intervenes to protect his reputation, clarify the technical details, and criticize Palazzo San Giacomo's handling of the crisis.

Strazzullo recalls that all meetings were attended by municipal officials or instructors acting as minute-taking clerks; the minutes were never the subject of complaints of forgery; the disbursement of tokens was never automatic, but rather subject to a series of checks and approvals by municipal directors and the Administrative-Accounting Offices. Furthermore, municipal officials, representatives of participating entities, councilors, and law enforcement officers often attended by official invitation.

Beyond the technical aspects, Strazzullo emphasizes the lack of political leadership from Naples City Council leaders in the face of an administrative system that seems to be blaming its own procedural shortcomings on city councilors. The recent dismissal of ten municipal directors during the course of the Guardia di Finanza investigations should also give pause for thought.

Faced with the Mayor's total disinterest and silence on an issue that is delegitimizing years of work in the local area, a radical stance is needed, Strazzullo states. If the central administration chooses to wash its hands of the matter rather than clarify the responsibilities of its leaders and offices, then the current city councilors should resign en masse and immediately halt all institutional activity. Only then will a strong signal be sent against those who divert attention from real administrative problems to media pillorying.

He also reiterated that he did not wish to attribute generic responsibility, recalling that he served the Municipality of Pianura/Soccavo 9 from 2009 to 2021 with undiminished passion and that the compensation was declared to the tax authorities and received for actual service. He announced that he would file a motion for annulment under self-defense and reserve the right to seek damages in all competent jurisdictions to protect his reputation.
