Naples: The Prefect tightens security after the attack in Piazza Carlo III.

A violent attack on a minor is now prompting authorities to increase law enforcement presence in the Piazza Carlo III area. This is what happened on the evening of September 9th, when the young man was stabbed in the face with a knife.

Faced with the incident, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, expressed his "firmest and total solidarity" with the victim and her family, firmly condemning what he called an unacceptable act of brutality.

More patrols in the area

The security response was immediate. Law enforcement, already engaged daily in preventing and combating widespread crime, will intensify patrols in the Piazza Carlo III area and surrounding neighborhoods.

Increased joint patrols have been ordered, with particular attention to the most sensitive time slots. The goal is to increase prevention capacity, ensure greater safety for residents and visitors to the area, and respond promptly in the event of risky situations.

A more widespread presence throughout the area also aims to strengthen the perception of safety in a particularly busy area characterized by a significant presence of young people, especially in the evening hours.

The case reaches the Public Order Committee

The attack will also be the focus of an in-depth investigation at the next meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety.

At that meeting, the critical issues facing the area will be analyzed together with the police force and the municipal administration. The operational strategies to be adopted to improve the effectiveness of local police control will be discussed, as well as any measures to be implemented regarding video surveillance.

The goal is to identify targeted interventions capable of preventing further episodes of violence and also addressing the phenomenon of youth deviance.

Safety and prevention

The episode in Piazza Carlo III thus brings the issue of public safety and the need for a constant presence of institutions back to the forefront of public attention.

The Prefecture's approach is a response that combines repression and prevention: increased local controls, greater monitoring capacity, and a detailed analysis of the areas most exposed to violence.

The institutions' commitment, it is reiterated, remains maximum to reaffirm legality, respect for the rules, and protection of public safety, with particular attention to places frequented by young people.
