Naples, Manfredi relaunches the seaside platforms: "If they work, we want them all summer long."

The offshore platforms installed along Naples' waterfront for the America's Cup preliminary regattas could remain in place beyond the sporting event. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi is considering using the structures during the summer months to improve access to the coast.

"For the construction of the offshore platforms on Via Caracciolo for the America's Cup preliminary regattas, we received temporary authorization for a limited number of days," Manfredi explained on the sidelines of the presentation of the Capodichino masterplan.

The Municipality, however, aims to transform the experience into something more lasting. "If the system works, we would like to be able to implement the project, which we are discussing with the ministry, to position them only for the summer season and guarantee access to the sea for all," added the mayor.

The first facilities will be used during the America's Cup preliminary regattas, scheduled for September 24th to 27th. During those days, the administration intends to reserve them especially for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.

Manfredi's goal goes beyond the sailing event: to test the platforms' functionality and then evaluate their installation during the bathing season, with the idea of ​​making the sea more accessible along the city's seafront.
