Naples: 44-year-old arrested for threats, assaults on his ex-wife, and the slogan "Time's up, I'll kill you."

Naples – A threatening message appeared on the landing of her home, right in front of the door of the apartment where she lives with her two children, aged 13 and 10. "Time is up, my being here is the end of you, I'll kill you." According to the Carabinieri's reconstruction, the message represents the latest and most disturbing episode in a series of threats, assaults, and stalking that has continued for months.

The case involves a 37-year-old woman and her ex-husband, a 44-year-old Neapolitan, arrested by Carabinieri officers at the San Giovanni a Teduccio station. He is charged with domestic abuse and stalking. The man was arrested in flagrante delicto and, at the same time, served with a restraining order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples.

He is now in Poggioreale prison.

At the center of the investigation is the end of a marriage that resulted in the birth of two children. According to the woman, the relationship progressively deteriorated, partly due to her ex-husband's alcohol abuse, leading to their mutual separation, which was sanctioned by the Naples Civil Court last July.

Phone calls, stalking, and obsessive jealousy

The separation, however, did not mark the end of their conflictual relationship. On the contrary, according to the woman's complaint, the man refused to accept the end of the relationship and began to show her increasingly insistent and unwanted attention.

Constant phone calls and text messages, stalking the 37-year-old's usual hangouts, tantrums, and verbal assaults. This behavior, according to the investigation, was fueled by jealousy, which the woman considered completely unfounded.

In the first ten days of August, the woman also attempted to reconcile, hoping the situation would improve. This decision, she told investigators, was made primarily to protect her children. "I did it for the children," she explained. The attempt, however, failed to produce any change.

The attack of August 28th

On August 28th, the situation escalated. Returning from work, the woman found her ex-husband clearly intoxicated. The insults and swearing began, followed by a physical attack.
According to the 37-year-old woman's complaint, the man allegedly grabbed her and repeatedly pulled her hair, then slapped her face and punched her head. She was reportedly forced to flee the home for safety.

That evening, when she returned home with her children, hoping the situation had calmed down, she reportedly witnessed a new escalation. The man allegedly began destroying the home's furniture, breaking cabinet doors and throwing them at her. He then attacked the woman again, pulling her hair and hitting her on the head.

The intervention of law enforcement apparently stopped the attack. However, the man apparently left before the patrols arrived.

The woman was subsequently taken to the Betania Evangelical Hospital, where she was diagnosed with "multiple bruises from an assault by a known person," with a prognosis of two days.

Reporting and activating the Red Code

That episode would have been a turning point. The woman said she had never previously reported her ex-husband, despite the insults and threats that, according to her account, had already been made over time.
The first physical attack, however, prompted her to break her silence. On August 29th, the complaint was filed, triggering the emergency procedure provided for by the so-called Red Code.

But the complaint, according to what investigators have reconstructed, did not stop the man.

From the broken door to the threats in the night

Late on August 31st, the 44-year-old man allegedly showed up at the woman's father's house, where the 37-year-old was staying with her children. He allegedly demanded the children back and, when they refused, began kicking and punching the building's front door, damaging it and breaking the glass.
A few hours later, around 3:30 a.m., another incident occurred. The man allegedly showed up at the woman's new home, waking her up by repeatedly banging on the door and hurling insults and threats. Among the things the woman allegedly told investigators were, "I have to smash your whole body."

Finally, on September 14th, the man allegedly encountered his ex-wife again while returning home. He allegedly insulted her and followed her for a stretch of the street, despite her attempts to walk away. At that point, the 37-year-old allegedly asked her father for help and had him drive her home.

The writing on the landing: "I'll kill you"

On September 23rd, another, even more disturbing episode occurred. The woman allegedly found a threatening message on the landing outside her home: "Time is up, my being here is the end of you, I will kill you."

A message that, added to the series of incidents already reported, would have further aggravated the investigative situation. The next day, the situation would reach a new breaking point.

The devastated apartment and the arrest

That morning, around 7:15 a.m., the woman had left home to go to work. When she returned, around 10:30 a.m., she found herself faced with a scene of devastation.

According to the Carabinieri, the apartment had been completely ransacked: furniture destroyed, the refrigerator overturned with its contents spilling onto the floor, the table and chairs overturned. Even a statuette of Padre Pio was apparently destroyed.

Distraught, the woman immediately called for help. A Carabinieri patrol from the San Giovanni a Teduccio station arrived on the scene, assessed the damage and took the 37-year-old to the station to file a new report.

Meanwhile, the military began searching for her ex-husband. On the same day, the investigating judge of the Naples Court issued an order imposing a coercive measure on the 44-year-old.
In the afternoon, the man spontaneously showed up at the Carabinieri station, where he was supposed to receive notification of the order.

At that point, the arrest was made. The 44-year-old was arrested both in flagrante delicto for domestic violence and stalking, and in execution of the order issued by the Neapolitan judicial authorities. He was transferred to Poggioreale prison, where he is held at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The story reconstructed by investigators therefore follows a precise progression: the end of the relationship, the constant phone calls and stakeouts, the threats, the first physical attack on August 28th, the complaint and the activation of the Red Code, the subsequent raids on the woman's home, the chase down the street, the graffiti on the landing, and finally the devastation of the apartment.

This escalation, according to the investigative approach, would have provided the circumstantial evidence underlying the arrest and precautionary measure. The charges will now be submitted to judicial review in the subsequent phases of the proceedings.
