Positano is still burning, as the fire reaches Capodacqua: a night of fear for isolated homes.

The risk had been announced well in advance. The regional Civil Protection operations room had reported, starting at 4:00 PM on September 22nd and continuing throughout the following day, the presence of northeast winds that could reach 50 kilometers per hour.

This is a particularly delicate situation in an area like the Amalfi Coast, where the rugged terrain and the presence of vegetation can favor the spread of fires. This situation triggered the alert just as the first outbreaks were beginning to appear in the area.

The first front in Maiori

The first report arrived early yesterday evening from Maiori, in the area of ​​Thoro Plano Castle. This initial fire immediately brought attention to the fire emergency that has been affecting several parts of the Amalfi Coast for days.

But the situation would worsen again as the hours passed.

Since 22pm the fire has returned to Positano

Around 22pm, in fact, a new fire front appeared in the mountains above Positano, in the area bordering Vico Equense.

Here, the fire resumed its course along the slopes already affected by the blazes of the previous days. After hitting Tordigliano and part of Chiosse, the flames gradually spread to new areas, spreading toward Grotta del Muro and Capodacqua, below Monte Comune and Santa Maria del Castello.

A new advance that has raised the alarm especially due to the presence of isolated homes in the area.

A night of fear

It was a difficult night for those living in the areas closest to the fire's front. The glow of the flames illuminated the slopes above Positano, while the wind continued to blow, fueling the fires and making the fire's progression more unpredictable.

Volunteers are also patrolling the area, busy defending the first isolated homes and monitoring the advance of the flames.

The priority was to prevent the fire from reaching homes, while the wind posed a further obstacle to containment operations.

A sequence of fires

The new fire is part of a series of blazes that have affected the area in recent days. From Tordigliano to Chiosse, up to the mountainous areas above Positano, the fire has progressively affected various stretches of the coast.
