Scafati, industrial wastewater contaminated: metalwork company seized

Potentially contaminated industrial wastewater leaked into the soil, underground, and onto roads. This is what emerged from the investigations that led to the emergency precautionary seizure of a metal fabrication company in Scafati, near Salerno.

The measure was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Environmental Protection and Energy Security Group of Naples, with the support of the military of the Salerno Provincial Command, on the basis of a decree issued by the Nocera Inferiore Prosecutor's Office.

The inspections, conducted with the technical support of ARPA Campania, focused on the management of runoff water from the company's yards. The investigations revealed the dispersion of potentially contaminated industrial wastewater, affecting the soil, subsoil, and roadway.

The seizure was ordered to prevent the continuation of potential environmental contamination and to protect the area affected by the identified critical issues. The investigation, coordinated by the Nocera Inferiore Public Prosecutor's Office, continues to reconstruct the precise events and determine any responsibilities.
