An elderly woman flees at breakneck speed between Tuscany and Umbria: two Campanians arrested

Arezzo—A reckless drive on the E45, dangerous maneuvers in traffic, and a daring escape from Tuscany to Umbria. The operation by Carabinieri officers from the Sansepolcro Company concluded this afternoon in Umbertide (Perugia), stopping two young men in a Jeep Renegade after a high-speed chase.

The dynamics of the chase

According to the Carabinieri's reconstruction, officers from the Sansepolcro Mobile Radio Unit ordered a Jeep Renegade carrying two young men to stop. Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly accelerated, heading toward Umbria at a high speed and performing maneuvers deemed dangerous for other road users.
The escape continued for several kilometers along the E45, reaching the municipality of Umbertide, where the two occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. The attempt was short-lived: the Carabinieri of Sansepolcro, with the support of their colleagues from Perugia, managed to apprehend them.

The discovery of money and gold

During the searches of both the vehicle and the occupants, officers found over €600 in cash and a gold chain. According to the Carabinieri, the two young men were unable to provide any explanation as to the source of the money and the valuables.

Arrests and ongoing investigations

A 19-year-old Egyptian man, residing in the province of Naples, was arrested for receiving stolen goods and fleeing a stop sign, seriously endangering the safety of others. By order of the Perugia judicial authorities, the young man was taken to the Perugia-Capanne prison.
The second youth, aged 17 and living in the province of Caserta, was reported at large and placed in a foster home. The investigation, coordinated by the Perugia Public Prosecutor's Office, is continuing to determine the origin of the seized gold and cash and to reconstruct every aspect of the incident.
