Circumvesuviana, a turning point for commuters: 10 new trains and extended timetables are coming.

Naples — New trains are on the tracks and a completely redesigned schedule tailored to commuters. At the Naples Porta Nolana station, the heads of EAV and the Campania Region presented the plan to modernize the Vesuvian lines, marking a key step for mobility in the metropolitan area.

Latest-generation trains in service by October 17th The main innovation concerns the introduction of the new approved trains into the network in record time.

"We managed to approve ten trains in a very short time: they will officially enter service by October 17th, but they will already be in circulation today for testing on the Vesuvian lines," explained EAV's sole director, Pietro Diamantini.

The accelerated schedule was made possible by a close institutional synergy: "It is the result of a strong collaboration established with the Ministry of Transport and Ansfisa, which has proven decisive. The timetable presented is an integrated architecture that will grow with the arrival of future trains, offering regular frequencies and fixed schedules throughout the 20-hour daily service."

The regional plan: two new trains every month

Campania Region President Roberto Fico echoed this sentiment, emphasizing his desire to transform the infrastructure into a hub for local transportation.

"With Diamantini's management, we're entering a new era. We want the Circumvesuviana model to be a benchmark for efficient, safe, and hyper-connected public transportation," said Fico.

The delivery plan includes a tight schedule:

By October 17: 10 new trains will be in operation and the new timetable will debut.

Monthly frequency: Introduction of 2 additional trains each month to increase capacity and frequency.

Intermodality: Greater integration of rail services with EAV buses on the Vesuvian coast.

The service reform is part of a broader program of structural interventions that includes renewing railway signaling, upgrading tracks, and redeveloping stations, with the goal of ensuring mobility as a fundamental right throughout the region.
