Training courses never held, seizures worth over €30 million in the Salerno area

Salerno – Searches and seizures of assets worth more than €30 million were carried out by the Salerno Finance Police as part of an investigation into alleged fraud involving corporate training courses that never took place.

The investigative activities, conducted by the Salerno Economic and Financial Police Unit on behalf of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in Naples, began with a tax audit conducted in 2025 on a company operating in the waste management sector.

According to the prosecution, a cooperative allegedly issued invoices for training courses intended for company employees, which were never actually delivered. The documentation was allegedly used to support requests for public funding for training and professional skills development.

EU funds and tax credits

The investigations allegedly revealed the receipt of over €6,6 million from the New Skills Fund, a professional training program co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. An additional €500 in tax credits related to employee training was also allegedly improperly requested.

Investigators also dispute the subsequent destination of the funds. The proceeds of the alleged fraud were allegedly used to support the company's operations, including payments to employees and suppliers.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office's investigation concerns possible fraud against the European Union's financial interests. At the same time, the Nocera Inferiore Public Prosecutor's Office is pursuing allegations of bankruptcy-related crimes involving the same individuals.

The searches and seizures were coordinated between the two prosecutors' offices. The charges must now be verified during the proceedings, and the suspects remain presumed innocent until a final sentence is handed down.
