Cars in the Quarto municipal park
Fourth – The Villa Comunale Giovanni Paolo II has been transformed, at least partially, into a rest area. This was the report shared on social media by numerous residents during a well-attended evening event, with a large presence of families and children.
As photos posted online show, several cars and a motorcycle were apparently parked along the park's pedestrian walkways, normally used by mothers with strollers, children, the elderly, and other visitors to the park. This situation, according to residents, could pose serious safety risks, especially during peak traffic times.
Several residents, along with Michele Onorato of the Afida association, reported the incident. "No one should be allowed to drive or park inside the villa during an event like this," the protesters wrote. The presence of the vehicles, they described as "dangerous and disrespectful of the rules."
Residents also request that any written permits authorizing the transit and parking of vehicles within the Villa Comunale be made public. The request was also addressed to the municipal administration and the mayor, who were asked to clarify whether the cars present were authorized or whether this was a violation.
The Villa Comunale Giovanni Paolo II is listed by the Municipality of Quarto as one of the city's places of interest and is located on Via Pietra Bianca, near Piazza Santa Maria.
To prevent similar incidents from recurring, residents are calling for increased police enforcement and the installation of physical barriers at entrances and along the driveways. The goal is to prevent vehicle access and protect both the public greenery and the safety of those who frequent the villa daily.
The concern, citizens conclude, is that the lack of controls could transform an already risky situation into an accident with serious consequences for a child, an elderly person, or a mother with a stroller.
