Naples: Algerian man wounded in the chest by shards of bottle

Naples. Tension erupted late in the morning at Porta Nolana, where Carabinieri officers responded to a report of a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

From an initial, cursory reconstruction, it appears that a 39-year-old Algerian man was shot—for reasons yet to be clarified—by a foreign citizen, likely North African, while he was on Via Giustiniani.

The victim was reportedly wounded in the chest and left arm by a broken bottle. The 39-year-old was promptly transferred to the hospital, but his life is not in danger. Carabinieri officers from the Napoli Stella Company's operational unit immediately began an investigation on the scene, working to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and identify the perpetrator.
