Temperatures below 30°C everywhere: the real September is here.

The Azores anticyclone returns to the Mediterranean, bringing back the classic September weather: cooler days, less muggy nights, and a still-warm sea. Lows will drop below 17-18°C, while highs will remain below 30°C across the entire country.

Today, Saturday, September 12, the eastern and southern regions are still affected by weak, unstable infiltrations from the Balkans. Local showers are possible in the central and lower Adriatic and in the south, excluding Campania and Sardinia.

Weekend: Sunny in the North, unstable in the South
Tomorrow, Sunday the 13th, any remaining instability will be limited to isolated showers between Salento, Calabria, and Sicily. Elsewhere, clear or partly cloudy skies will prevail. Southern regions will return to seasonal averages and end the weekend with temperatures below 30°C.

In detail:

Saturday the 12th. Sunny in the north. Sunny in the center, with some showers on the Adriatic coast. Rain in the south in Calabria and Sicily, only intermittent in the rest of the regions.
Sunday the 13th. Sunny in the north. Sunny in the center. Unstable in the south over lower Sicily and southern Calabria.

New sunny week

From Monday, the anticyclone will extend eastward and guarantee clear skies from north to south. Monday 14th: scattered clouds and some rain over the Dolomites in the north, mostly sunny in the center, showers over the Ragusa area in the south.
The only possible change is Wednesday, when a disturbance over central Europe could touch northern Italy, bringing a temporary increase in instability and precipitation, especially in the northeast. On Thursday, instability is possible over the Adriatic. Aside from this rapid passage, the following days will remain stable, sunny, and mild.

The sea remains the anomaly

The last sign of summer 2026 is water: Italian lakes still have surface temperatures between 27 and 28 °C.
Outlook: Another sunny week; more unstable weather in the north on Wednesday and in the Adriatic on Thursday.
