A steel sledgehammer smashed into a €100 Audi: two people were forced out. The car was recovered in Mondragone.

A planned attack carried out in the dead of night, a metal club used to smash the car window, and two people forced to leave the car at the threat of the attackers. This is the sequence reconstructed by the Carabinieri who responded after the emergency number 112 was raised for an assault on Via Pertini, in San Nicola la Strada.

The target was a black Audi SQ5, a highly valuable vehicle estimated at approximately €100, including the damage caused during the attack. The occupants were the owner, a 32-year-old man from Caserta, and a 27-year-old woman.

The assault with the iron mace

According to initial reports, three people with their faces covered and dressed in dark clothing pulled up alongside the Audi as it drove along Via Pertini. Then, a sudden attack occurred: one of the attackers used a metal club to shatter the driver's door window.

At that point, the two occupants were reportedly forced to get out of the car. A swift action was followed by the three criminals fleeing in a gray Alfa Romeo Mito, disappearing into the surrounding streets.

It was a scary moment for the two victims. The driver suffered some abrasions to his face and left foot and was treated on the scene by 118 personnel, who responded to the emergency call.

The 112 alarm and the hunt for bandits

The report prompted the intervention of the Carabinieri of the Caserta Company's Operational and Radiomobile Unit. The patrols were immediately engaged in searching for the Audi and reconstructing the events of the attack.

The coordination of the Operations Center allowed the search to be rapidly extended throughout the province. This effort yielded initial results this morning.
The Audi SQ5 was located in Mondragone, in the Destra Volturno area. The vehicle was recovered and seized, pending technical investigations that could provide important information to identify the perpetrators of the attack.

Cameras used to reconstruct the escape

Investigators are now focusing primarily on reconstructing the route taken by the criminals after the attack. The Carabinieri are acquiring and analyzing footage from video surveillance systems located along potential escape routes.

The objective is to identify the gray Alfa Romeo Mito used to escape and reconstruct the commando's movements between San Nicola la Strada and Mondragone.

But a key role could also be played by direct investigations into the Audi. The vehicle will be subjected to the necessary technical tests to search for fingerprints, biological traces, and other evidence useful to the investigation.

The car was found, now the search for traces

The recovery of the car represents the first concrete result of the investigation. The Audi may contain traces left by the attackers during the attack or in the hours following, especially considering the manner in which the attack was carried out.

The investigation is being conducted by the military of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Caserta Carabinieri Company, with the support of the Operational Section and the Radiomobile Section of the Mondragone Territorial Unit, under the coordination of the judicial authorities, who have already been informed of the incident.

Several aspects of the incident remain unclear, starting with the identities of the three men and the possible planning of the attack. Investigators will now have to piece together the victims' testimonies, surveillance footage, and any evidence recovered from the Audi to identify the commando that operated that night.
