The Superior Council of the Judiciary has announced a public competition for a Technical Officer with a specialization in engineering and construction, to be filled within its Rome office. This is an open process based on qualifications and examinations, with a probationary period, in accordance with the regulations of the central public administration.

What is it about

The announcement, published in the Official Journal and available on the CSM website, offers one position for a Technical Officer with an engineering-construction background. The position is in Area III, economic level 1, within the CSM's organic roster. The initial hiring will be on a probationary basis, with a standardized test period; in practice, successful completion of the probationary period will allow for assignment to the full-time role.

The required figure

Generally, a technical officer with an engineering/construction background in a public institution provides specialized technical support for properties, public works, maintenance, safety, design, and document verification. Typical skills include civil and construction engineering, building regulations, workplace safety, public contracts, project management, and the use of digital design tools (e.g., AutoCAD). The job posting does not detail daily duties, but suggests a technical role involving verification, planning, and assistance with legal and administrative procedures related to projects and services.

Main requirements

  • Valid educational qualification, including a bachelor's degree (old system) or equivalent degrees in the engineering/architecture fields (building, civil, electrical, environmental and territorial, mechanical) or a master's/specialist's degree in the same fields.
  • Italian or EU citizenship.
  • Political rights and fitness for employment.
  • Not having reached 51 years of age (exception for CSM permanent staff of Area II).
  • Knowledge of English and adequate knowledge of Italian for foreign residents or EU citizens.
  • A certified email address is required in the application and there must be no prior dismissal or dismissal for disciplinary reasons.
  • Possession of the moral and conduct requirements to participate in competitions for the ordinary judiciary.

It is expected that academic qualifications and additional qualifications/experience may influence the evaluation score, as indicated in the announcement details and in the merit scores.

The probationary period is four months; upon completion, the period is counted as full-time service.
